Our holiday cottages have all been recently converted from 150 year old stone barns to a very high standard and are tastefully furnished, with all the comforts of home, al have private parking, garden & patio and great views.
A short walk from your holiday cottage takes you to the foot of Screel hill, renowned for its viewpoints across the spectacular Solway Coast. A few minutes drive north takes to the Scotland's food town of Castle Douglas, a real gastronomic treat, with its bustling main street filled with filled cafes, restaurants, bars, delis, bakers and four speciality butchers. All with a variety of local produce to tantalise.
Alternatively you can take the coast road west through Auchencairn and the smugglers bay at Balcary to the picturesque artists town of Kirkcudbright, or go east by Palnackie famous for its world flounder tramping championship on your way to the beaches of Sandyhills
Our self catering cottages are just a short walk to the foot of Screel Hill, renowned for it's viewpoints across the spectacular Solway Coast. There is a circular walk of about 3.5 miles. Great self catering in Dumfries and Galloway.
Gelston Lodge Self Catering Cottages are 5 miles from Castle Douglas, 8 miles from Kirkcudbright, 2 miles from Red Haven Beach and at the foot of Screel hill at the heart of Dumfries and Galloway.
Ideally situated in a haven for wildlife, migratory barnacle geese arrive in their thousands from the srctic and spend the winter in the nearby Solway coastal salt marshes, whilst red kites soar above the craggy hills. The sprawling forests and lochs of Dumfries and Galloway are home for many of the areas birds and animals including red squirrels, roe deer, badgers and buzzards.
