Burnbrae Holiday Cottage near Loch Ness

Burnbrae is an excellent centre for day trips around the Highlands of Scotland but is also a great place to relax and enjoy the tranquillity of a Highland glen.

The cottage sleeps 4 in one double and one twin room and comes fully equipped with everything you might require to make your stay comfortable. Beds are made up ready for your arrival and a welcome pack is also provided.

The garden is bounded on one side by a burn where you can often see a heron fishing in the pools. In the early morning roe deer will pass the door or stop to nibble on the roses outside your window! You might even be lucky enough to spot the resident red squirrels. A picnic bench and garden seat are available in the garden for you to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet on sunny days.
There is off road parking for two cars at the cottage.

There are several excellent hotels and restaurants in the vicinity where you are sure of a welcome, as well as shops, post office, bank, cafes, garages, etc.

You will find many interesting walks in the local area, including one right to the shores of Loch Ness or if you wish to see the sights from horseback there is an excellent riding centre catering for beginners and experts alike in Drumnadrochit. The world famous Urquhart Castle is only 3 miles from the cottage - it is a great place to spend an afternoon and enjoy wonderful views of the Loch while watching out for 'Nessie'.

At any time of the year Burnbrae is ideally situated for day trips to the West Coast and the Isle of Skye or to John o'Groats and the Castle of Mey (the late Queen Mother's Scottish home) in the North. In winter the ski slopes of Cairngorm or Aonoch Mor are only a hour's drive away - or if you prefer hill walking and climbing the Affric hills are only 15 miles to the west.

The area is rich in history with museums and visitor centres telling of times past - Culloden battle field, Fort George, Urquhart Castle, Cawdor, the Clanman Centre in Fort Augustus and too many more to mention. Those of you researching your family's Highland connections will find much of interest in the local area and lots of resources available to help with your search.

The city of Inverness is only 20 minutes drive away and has all that you would expect from the Capital of the Highlands - a wonderful theatre, leisure centres, swimming pools, museums, and enough shops to satisfy the shopaholics amongst you.
