Holiday resort in a medieval hamlet in Tuscany
Borgo di Colleoli is a large medieval hamlet that has been recently restored and turned into a 5 star holiday resort. It consists of a 15th century Villa surrounded by the premises of the former farm.
The resorts has two swimming pools, a renowned restaurant, a wine bar with small shop, a central reception and a park adorned with historical trees for outdoor relaxation.
Accommodation is provided in an apartment with a double bedroom, kitchenette in the living room with sofa bed and bathroom. It can comfortably host up to 4 people and it is furnished in a very refined rural style. It is equipped with top quality fittings and appliances for a unique comfort. Borgo di Colleoli is open all year long. Its central location is perfect to reach all Tuscany's major art towns within one hour driving.
For most of the Borgo's history, the village was ostensibly owned by the Agostini family, who were involved in silk production in Pisa. The Agostini manor house, where the family crest remains above the front door, dates to 1494; it was recently renovated to create Il Palazzo, a boutique hotel that is now a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World.
Good base for touring Lucca, Pisa and Florence (best to catch the train into Florence). Excellent service at Borgo di Colleoli and good value for money.
About Palaia:In the heart of rural Tuscany, a narrow winding road rises gradually uphill through the towns of Montopoli and Palaia to Borgo di Colleoli. The Borgo sits on the 'Strada del Vino', the local wine trail, with small vineyards
offering their own superb Tuscan wines. The local area offers excellent dining choices at remarkably low prices.
