Marmadukes Holiday Cottage in Derbyshire
Welcome to The Coach House by Marmadukes, the short break specialists. Originally built for the 18th Century Industrialist Sir Richard Arkwright, the Coach House is today a stunning self catering property in the heart of the historic market town of Wirksworth in the beautiful Derbyshire Dales.
The Coach House is in an outstanding location for you to enjoy one of Britain's finest Counties for walking, scenery and all outdoor pursuits.
With our simple Dales Getaway breaks of 4 nights midweek (Monday to Friday) and Relaxing Weekends of 3 nights (Friday to Monday), you'll be hard pressed to find anything to compare our quality for the prices we charge. If you're looking for a full week, don't worry, we do those as well.
What we don't do are gimmicky discounts or last minute offers, just good value for money all the year round! That's why our guests come back to us time and time again, year after year. We look forward to seeing you.
The Coach House has been restored to an exceptional high standard, retaining many of its original features and is furnished to sleep four people in comfort.
With original lead windows, exposed beams, a candle lit chandelier, beautiful hillside views over the rooftops and an original Victorian cast iron bath, The Coach House is a true testament to England's industrial revolution and well preserved history.
The peaceful undulating hills and picturesque pastureland of the Derbyshire Dales with its charming hidden valleys and long winding riverbanks contrasts deeply to the ancient and vibrant heather covered moorland of the Peak District National Park.
Situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty, the Derbyshire Dales are alive with culture, history and an array of wildlife making it a first class location for all outdoor pursuits. Whether it's exploring the many delightful towns and villages, settling in for few pints and a good meal at a country inn, or some serious hill walking, you'll find that the Derbyshire Dales has it all.
Wirksworth (the 'jewel' of the Peak District), is fast becoming one of the most fascinating places to visit in the region. The town has been centred around its market place since 1306 and the time of Edward 1. The market is still held every Tuesday and Saturday.
Wirksworth has thrived since Mediaeval times giving rise to its outstanding 13th century church which boasts one of the most important sculptural remains of the 9th century.
