Old Rose Cottage
Our cottage is located in the beautiful Hambleden Valley in the Chilterns. Designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Hambleden Valley has some of the most spectacular and characteristic Chiltern scenery: high ridges, beech woods, sweeping dry chalk valleys and yet is only 40 miles from central London and 25 miles from Heathrow.
This unspoilt, picturesque location offers a wide range of attractions: from some of the finest walks in the Chilterns to boat trips and picnics along the nearby river Thames, visits to grand stately homes and shopping in the pretty market towns of Marlow and Henley.
Old Rose Cottage has recently been beautifully renovated to provide modern comfort as well as to highlight the property's original features. It comprises a double bedroom, a twin bedroom, a lovely sitting room, a modern kitchen with dining area, a bath/shower and a nearby, secluded garden.
It has a magnificent inglenook fireplace in the sitting room with a log burner for cosy evenings in winter. It also has a television, a DVD player and a CD stereo.
The bedrooms and stairway have wonderful original oak beams.
The oak cottage style kitchen has a dining area and is well equipped with electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and everything needed for an enjoyable holiday.
Location:
Cobstone Windmill
Overlooking Turville is Cobstone Windmill, an 18th century smock mill, which was used in the 1968 children's film 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang'. It is privately owned but there is a lovely public footpath up the hill running alongside the windmill and from the top, there are fantastic views over Turville and the Hambleden Valley.
Hambleden Lock
The river Thames is only five miles away with the picturesque Hambleden Lock.
