Beechwood Holiday Cottages

Beechwood Cottages are located centrally for easy access to Cornwall, West Devon and Plymouth. Luxury self-catering accommodation for up to 10 guests is available in two cottages, for short breaks and extended holidays. Bed and breakfast accommodation is also available when the cottages are vacant.

Beechwood Cottage

Built in approximately 1850, Beechwood Cottage has all the charm of a Cornish cottage and more, with beamed ceilings and wood burning fires. There are three bedrooms. Two of the bedrooms have four poster beds with full ensuite facilities.

The third bedroom is a twin room with its own separate bathroom just down over the stairs.

There is a separate dining room and lounge, with TV and video, and a large kitchen and utility. There are a total of four toilets in this cottage. All amenities are provided, including washing machine, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, microwave, all bedlinen (inc duvets) and towels. The cottage has full central heating.

The holiday cottages are set in level gardens within 1 acre with patio and barbecue area. There is a pond - so children beware!

Little Beechwood holiday cottage

Although of more recent construction, is full of old world charm with beamed ceilings and a wood burner stove. There is a comfortable lounge, with TV and video, and a separate kitchen.

There are two bedrooms - a double room with five foot bed and wardrobe and a twin room. The bathroom with shower over the bath is newly fitted. All amenities are provided, including washing machine, fridge, freezer, microwave, all bedlinen (inc duvets) and towels. The cottage has full central heating.

The holiday cottages are set in level gardens within 1 acre with patio and barbecue area. There is a pond - so children beware!

The Area and Attractions

The local market towns of Liskeard and Callington (4 miles) have a range of facilities including banks, supermarkets, cafes and a post office. There is a 16th Century pub just 400 yards from Beechwood Cottage. A scenic railway journey runs from Liskeard to the nearby fishing village of Looe where there are numerous restaurants, pubs and cafes.

Beechwood holiday cottages are situated in the quiet village of St Ive surrounded by beautiful countryside on the edge of Bodmin Moor and are within easy reach of the sandy beaches and spectacular cliff walks of the north and south coasts. The world famous Eden Project and the fascinating Lost Gardens of Heligan are approximately a 30 minute drive.

The fishing villages of Looe and Polperro, where you can enjoy sandy beaches as well as deep sea fishing trips, are a short drive from St Ive. The coastal path with its stunning sea views leads eastwards from Looe to Seaton beach and, for keen walkers, on to the Rame peninsula and Mount Edgcumbe House and Country Park in the 'forgotten corner of Cornwall'. Westwards from Looe, the coastal paths leads to Polperro and to Polruan from which you can cross by ferry to Fowey (home of Daphne du Maurier).

The golf course at Bindown, Looe has panoramic sea views and St Mellion International Golf Course with its famous Jack Nicklaus course is within easy reach of Beechwood Cottages.

The nearby Bodmin Moor, home of the legendary Jamaica Inn, is justly renowned for the beauty of its vast expanses of rugged moorland and magnificent granite tors and its wealth of prehistoric and more recent mining remains. The Mining Heritage Centre at the old mining village of Minions, is well worth a visit, as are the ancient burial chamber at Trethevy Quoit, the Cheesewring and the prehistoric standing stones, The Hurlers.

There are numerous National Trust properties locally including Buckland Abbey, Cotehele and Lanhydrock. Tintagel Castle of King Arthur fame (English Heritage) perched on the cliffs on the North coast is also a popular day out.
