The hub of the City is the City Cross where, rather like the clock on Waterloo Station, friends always arrange to meet and from where the main streets, named after the points of the compass, focus on The Cross. Main chain shops can be found in East, South and North Street. There are also numerous individual shops and restaurants within and close to the centre. A City guided walk is available throughout the summer.
The world famous Chichester Festival Theatre is situated in Oaklands Park on the outer boundary of the City, being just 1 mile from Oak Apple Barn. There are 2 theatres on site. The main 'Season' is from April to October.
A little further afield, but easily accessible from Chichester are numerous attractions, including Goodwood (3 miles north east of Chichester) where in addition to the house itself, the racecourse and motor racing circuit are worth visiting. The Festival of Speed and Revival Motor Racing Meeting take place during the Summer and Fall.
