Luxury 2 bedroom holiday cottage set in the heart of the South Downs

This grade II luxurious 2 bedroom cottage, near Petworth, was originally built in 1870 as a school and has since been sympathetically converted into three cottages, providing us with an elegant home from home. The south facing spacious living area looks out onto the garden and beyond to the rolling Sussex hills. Opening the French windows leads on to the patio, perfect for alfresco dining or for relaxing with a chilled glass of wine on a warm summers evening.

Downstairs has a spacious entrance hall, which leads through to the well appointed kitchen and to the elegant, yet comfortable living/dining room. Also from the hall the stairs lead up to a large open landing, which provides access to the two bedrooms and bathroom. Bedroom 1 has a king size bed, & built in wardrobes, bedroom 2 has twin beds with built in storage, a TV and DVD player. Both offer views across the South Downs.

Guests at the Old School House also have the option to rent our beach hut at West Wittering.

Located in Duncton near the historic market town of Petworth our cottage offers the perfect setting for walking and exploring the South Downs National Park. The towns of Midhurst and Petworth are nearby and the city of Chichester is within easy reach; all are great for shopping and are packed with antiques, art galleries, and other attractions. The coastal areas of Brighton, Chichester, Bosham and the fabulous Blue Flag beach at West Wittering, are all within easy reach.

Bignor and Fishbourne offer great examples of local Roman remains. Goodwood offers a variety of events throughout the year from the Festival of Speed to horse racing and golf. There are a number of gorgeous National Trust properties in the area including; Petworth House and Park, Uppark House and garden, Parham House, and Arundel Castle. The Cowdray Estate offers clay pigeon shooting, polo, golf and the ruined Tudor mansion of Cowdray. Should you wish to explore further afield London is 1.5hrs by train from Pulborough
