In the annex you will find lots of useful local information, but the Tourist Information Centre is just in town and we are happy to suggest and advice on outings and local events.
You will find an excellent selection of pubs and restaurants in Llanwrtyd and the surrounding towns and villages offering outstanding ales, wonderful food and friendly company. We are happy to make bookings on your behalf.
The River Irfon runs through the town and affords a wonderful opportunity for local walking and bird-watching. The area is also well known for offering the best roads particularly the Abergwesyn Valley and the Devils Staircase to Lyn Brianne and Tregaron. We attract many 4x4 drivers, off-roading groups, mountain cyclists and fell runners. There are excellent golf courses in Llandrindod and Builth Wells. The area also prides itself on its abundance of Red Kite and wonderful array of wild birds. We are delighted that Red Squirrels have been seen around Abergwesyn and in Crychan Forest.
Llanwrtyd is a great base for exploring the whole of Mid Wales. The North is often referred to as the last great wilderness of the UK. The home of the magnificent Cambrian Mountains and the spectacular Elan Valley where you can walk and wonder at the engineering of the Dams and Lakes and enjoy walks along the Elan Trail. Not to far to the East lies Hay-on-Way full of antique and book shops. The Epynt Range and Brecon Beacons lie to the south and offer panoramic sites and incredible walking, including the new trails called the Epynt Way. Builth Wells is a short hop and a there is generally something on at the Royal Welsh Showground, but with the River Wye at its heart there is plenty of opportunity for fishing.
Finally to the west you can access the coast, taking the mountain routes via Devils Bridge to Aberystwyth.
