Near to the picturesque village of Ceres and only 7 miles from St. Andrews, the home of golf, Windrush Holiday Cottage is an ideal central base to explore not only Fife's delightful towns and coastlines but is within a 25 minute drive to Dundee and Perth and a hop over the Forth bridge to Edinburgh takes a mere 40 minutes. Explore the coastline of hundreds of miles of cycle and walking paths taking in the pretty harbour villages of Elie, Pittenween , Anstruther and Crail and award winnng blue flag beaches.

Flexible sleeping arrangements with 2 triple / family rooms the upstairs one having a sumptuous huge superking bed which can be split into 2 singles along with a full size day bed to sleep 3. Downstairs bedroom accommodates 2 single beds with memory foam mattresses which can be bunked and another bed added to the room to sleep 3.
Highchair and full size cot with comfortable waterproof mattress (please bring your own cot bedding) suitable for children up to 2 years available. Also stair gates are also provided to be fitted to both the bottom and top of the stairs if required. A large fire guard can be used in front of wood burner if so desired. A baby monitor and waterproof mattress covers can also be provided for a single bed if necessary.
Windrush Holiday cottage is almost 2 miles along country roads from the lovely small village of Ceres, described as 'the most beautiful village in Scotland' and home to the oldest Highland Games in Scotland traditionally held the last Saturday of June each year with free entry for all. It has it's own Fife Folk museum, the famous Wemyss pottery, several places to eat (the excellent friendly Ceres Inn now offering great food to take away as well as to dine in), small supermarket for essentials and little galleries to browse.
Historical interest can be satisfied by visiting such local sites as the Hill of Tarvit Mansionhouse and gardens (try an energetic trek up the hill for a panoramic view of the area) , St. Andrews Castle and Cathedral ,Falkland Palace, Kellie castle and medieval east neuk villages to name but a few. Further afield but within driving distance for a day out then Glamis Castle, Stirling Castle and of course Edinburgh Castle are must sees.
The world famous Old Course and the British Golf museum in St Andrews will be a must see for the keen golfer but with over 70 golf courses within reach, including the recently restored Hickory Golf course at Hill of Tarvit only a mile from Ceres, you will be spoiled for choice.
If golf is not for you, then you are in luck as Fife boasts a wealth of visitor attractions. Bird enthusiasts can take a short boat trip out to the Isle of May, where you will find a nature reserve where puffins, crags, and many more sea birds can be found. Seals are seen regularly lying on the rocks around the island and if you are lucky you may even spot dolphins or whales.
The East Neuk and surrounding area provides many hidden surprises for visitors, with it's numerous sandy beaches and rock pools that will have children entertained for hours, historical churches and buildings, quaint wynds to meander down and harbours with working fishing boats, there is something which will appeal to everyone.
Fife boasts five of Scotland's six 'Blue Flag Beaches' and plenty of other award winning beaches as well. Try picking some local strawberries at the many local farms where sampling the best raspberries that the South East of Scotland is famous for as well as discovering the 'Tayberry' is a true delight and many have extensive play areas to keep the children happy.
There are an abundance of energetic and more leisurely activities for you to sample in the area. They are all within a short drive of The Cottage and include watersports, clay pigeon shooting, cycling, walking, Scotland's secret bunker, horse riding, off road driving, pottery painting, Scottish Deer Centre, aquariums etc.
Award winning restaurants only 5 minutes drive.
