Arete Apartments
Unique, self-catering accommodation in a British couples home set on the edge of a small, rural village, west of Hania, on the beautiful Greek island of Crete. Arete has two spacious and fully equipped apartments with fantastic views of the surrounding countryside, providing a calm and peaceful atmosphere for those seeking to enjoy the real Crete.
Run as a small holding, Arete offers an authentic holiday experience, just 20 minutes drive to the beautiful Venetian harbour town of Hania, 3kms from the beaches and restaurants of Maleme and within an hours drive to Falassarna, Paleochora and Sougia. Arete is an ideal base from where to explore the wild west of Crete, close to the tourist resorts of Platanias and Agia Marina but also far enough away to escape the hustle and bustle.
With our wealth of local knowledge, we, the owners, can offer our guests advice and information on the best routes to get to anywhere in the west of Crete, where to eat and what to see. We offer a warm, homely environment and like nothing better than to accompany our guests to any local fiestas, guide them on long walks through the beautiful countryside and give an authentic Cretan experience to their holiday.
Having lived here for 5 years we feel that we can offer an unique insight into Cretan village life, we grow all our own organic vegetables, keep chickens and geese, produce our own honey and harvest our olives each year giving us the best Extra Virgin Olive oil. All this we share with our guests, from fresh eggs to a selection of seasonal produce from our garden.
