Shorelines Gallery and Accommodation

Shorelines Accommodation is managed by artist Jane Glue and is situated next to her studio in the village of Finstown. It is a two bedroomed self catering house with wooden floors and underfloor heating throughout.

The house is tastefully decorated with lots of arty touches by Jane throughout. There is one twin bedroom and one double en suite bedroom with a walk-in wetroom. There is also a separate bathroom with a bath and shower plus a large heated towel rail for all those wet towels from the beach!.

The living/kitchen area has a glass end leading on to wooden decking and a private stone wall garden area which overlooks the sea. A barbecue and outdoor table and chairs are available for use either on the decking or at a patio area at the bottom of the garden.

The kitchen area is equipped with a built in cooker/grill, dishwasher, washer/dryer, fridge/freezer and microwave. A breakfast bar sits four. There is also a Digital TV and dvd player with a large modern leather seating area.

There is private parking beside the entrance and a Local shop, pub and restaurant nearby. The property is situated in the village of Finstown with a population of about 600 people, there is a large grassy area nearby, if you have a dog and more parking if need be. Finstown is six miles from each of the main towns of Kirkwall and Stromness.

It is perfectly situated for visiting the nearby archaeological sites of The Ring of Brodgar, Skara Brae, Maeshowe and many others. Orkney also hosts many lovely sandy beaches and the famous cathedral St Magnus Cathedral in the main town of Kirkwall. Although Finstown is on what we call the mainland, there are many other smaller islands, which you can visit by local ferry or by plane.

Every year in the month of June we have the St Magnus Festival which hosts many famous musicians and other related events. At midsummer, around the 20th June, it is daylight nearly all day and a special time to visit The Ring of Brodgar with its Neolithic standing stones circle, unlike Stonehenge, you can roam around freely to your hearts content!
