The Guardhouse
The Guardhouse provides comfortable, spacious, well-equipped self catering accommodation on The Isle of Lewis. It has been maintained to a high standard and is ideal for independent travellers seeking privacy and relaxation, as well as those who enjoy outdoor pursuits.
It makes a great base for seeing the sights of the Isle of Lewis and the Isle of Harris and is convenient for boat trips around the inshore islands, to the Flannan Isles and to the World Heritage site of St Kilda. It has an open fire, wood floors and solid, mahogany doors throughout.
With its stunning location on the rugged west coast of Lewis, in the small village of Aird, Uig, guests can relax in the lounge beside an open fire and watch Fulmars circle beneath the cliff tops & there is also a sea view from the kitchen sink, which makes washing-up much less of a chore.
The landscape surrounding The Guardhouse has an air of untamed beauty. It is 'nature in the raw'; somewhere to enjoy a moments privacy, relax, contemplate and enjoy outdoor pursuits.
A little further away, but still within a ten-minute drive of The Guardhouse, the numerous white, shell sand beaches, lochs, moorlands, streams and mountains, make this landscape ideal for a wide variety of outdoor pursuits.
There's a licensed, Community shop approximately 3 miles from Aird and the mobile shop visits Aird village each Tuesday afternoon.
The nearby Uig Community Centre stages a lively programme of events and during the summer, a cafe and the Uig museum run from here also.
