Mundesley
The name Mundesley is thought to be of either Anglo-Saxon or Norse origin. It is pronounced muns-lee.
It is situated on the Norfolk coast, 8 miles south of Cromer and 25 miles north east of Norwich.
Mundesley is renowned for its award winning beach (clean beach award for the last 3 years). During the summer months the magnificent sandy beach is patrolled by lifeguards and the Volunteer In-shore Lifeboat.
Cliff-top walks have, in the past, unearthed many fossils including a complete mammoths skeleton!
Mundesley offers a good selection of shops supplying everyday needs. From fresh fruit and vegetables (most are grown locally) to a Pharmacists. Plus a Post Office, local Bakery, Butcher, General Stores, Florist and more. There is also a good selection of friendly hostelries and the ever popular Tea Room called 'Charlies', selling traditional tea's, home made cakes, and sweets served from jars!
Nearby in Gimingham, Roseacre Stables can offer you riding lessons by the qualified owner.
In August, there is 'Boat Day' where the local Volunteer Lifeboat crew have a fete on the beach together with an Air/Sea rescue demonstration. Also in August, is Mundesley Festival which offers family entertainment with local and nationally recognised stars performing at the local Coronation Hall.
