Twynholm is a thriving village with a shop, two hotels where meals are provided, a garage and the David Coultart Museum. We even have a chocolate factory, The Cocoa Bean Company, where you can make your own chocolate souvenirs.
Self contained Ground floor apartment with gas central heating and double glazing. Sleeps 2/4, one double room and one twin. Sitting room, kitchen and bathroom with shower above bath. Heating, electricity, bedding and linen included. Garden to rear and off road parking if desired.
There is lots to see and do in and around Twyholm. Walking, Cycling, Horse Riding and Golf are all catered for locally. The nearest beach, The Dhoon, is a popular spot for holiday makers and locals alike.
Throughout the summer months there are events happening more or less every weekend in one of the nearby villages or towns. Kirkcudbright hosts a weekly Scottish Nights on Thursdays, when the pipe band, wind band and local highland dancers entertain in the harbour square. We have the Riding of the Marches, where the Cornet and Cornet's lass and their followers defend the boundaries of the Royal Burgh on horse back, a spectacular evening with up to a hundreds horses and riders taking part. There is a Jazz Festival, a Parade day, and the festivities finish with a spectacular Tattoo, an event not to be missed and enjoyed by just a much by locals as visitors.
The busy Market Town of Castle Douglas hosts the Food Festival and provides excellent shopping with many speciality food shops. We even have our own brewery!
On the outskirts of Castle Douglas there is Threave Castle, home of the treacherous Douglas clan. It is a short walk from the car park to the crossing point where you ring the bell for the boatman to cross the moat to collect you. A fabulous atmospheric adventure for all the family..
Threave Gardens is worth a visit all year round. A large area of landscaped woodland, rockery, water gardens and lawns and is particularly spectacular when the Rhododendrons and daffodils are in bloom.
There is not enough space to tell you all there is to see and do. South West Scotland has so much to offer.
