Gozo farmhouse available for vacation rental
Set in a quiet and charming part of the Old Town of Victoria close to St> George's Basilica is Gozo House. Dating back to the 17th Century and featuring exposed limestone walls, known as tal-franka, one can almost sense the history of the Knights of St John that occupied Gozo and Malta between 1530 and 1798.
Updated to provide modern facilities to create a 'home from home' experience for those wishing to relax in the privacy of a characterful property and the option of self-catering or enjoy the ambience of walking round the quite alleys, meeting the local people before taking in a local hostelry or enjoying the local food in one of the fine restaurants in Victoria. Or simply spend your time 'drinking in' the splendid views of the Citadel and surrounding scenery from the private roof terrace.
Travel in style on the ancient buses around the island to visit the beaches at Ramla Bay, San Blas or Xlendi. Or for culture try one of the 2 theatres in Victoria at the Aurora Opera House or the Astra Theatre, both on Republic Street.
For those of an active disposition, Gozo is well known for its diving. At the last count there were 10 regulated Diving Centres, providing ample opportunity for the qualified diver to visit some of the caves and rocks that pepper the rocky coast of the island, including Billinghurst Cave, Blue Hole & Chimney, Fessej Rock - extending to a depth of 50m - or for beginners, Xlendi Cave & Reef, also suitable for snorkelling, amongst many other sites.
If land is more attractive, rock climbing is an established attraction particularly the Dingli Cliffs to the west at Ghar Lapsi, and near the Victoria Lines below Naxxar.
Architecture reflects the domination of the islands for centuries through fortifications such as Fort Chambray and the celebration of the Catholic religion in the Baroque Churches that exist at almost every turn. As well as the Cathedral, St George's Basilica is a must visit and so is Xewkija.
