Corran Lighthouse Lodge
Corran Lighthouse Lodge is situated on the shoreline of Loch Linnhe, a beautiful tidal sea loch on the West Coast of Scotland.
From the Lodge there are fabulous views down Loch Linnhe across to the magnificent Glencoe mountain range and north to Ben Nevis, towering over the landscape.
Built in 1857 by Robert Louis Stevenson's father and uncle, it was one of a chain of lighthouses marking the route to the Caledonian Canal. The separate lighthouse still is in operation - without a fog horn!
The Lodge is newly converted from the original lighthouse keepers' cottages, into luxurious holiday accommodation comprising 5 double en-suite bedrooms, a large elegant lounge with wood burning stove and a charming country kitchen where everyone will want to gather and socialise.
Outside, the large private walled garden is perfect for games and barbecues and has direct access to the beach.
The scenic backdrop to the Lodge is the dramatic West Highland hills and glens of Ardgour providing the opportunity for many scenic walks and outdoor activities.
The village of Ardgour has an excellent local pub which serves food and is only 100 metres walk from the Lodge. Fort William, which is seven miles by road, is the main town for the area, providing all necessary amenities.
The area around Corran Lighthouse Lodge is one of mountains, lochs, seas and rich in history. There are mountains and crags for hill walks and mountain bike trails to take your breath away. For less strenuous activities there are woodland trails, pony trekking, sleepy villages and great film locations to explore, Rob Roy, Braveheart and even Harry Potter were all filmed in the area.
Ardgour is at the centre of an area known as Lochaber, which includes Fort William, Glencoe, Spean Bridge, Invergarry, Glenfinnan, Mallaig and the Ardnamurchan peninsula. Also easily accessible are Oban, the Isle of Mull and Fort Augustus, which is situated at the bottom end of Loch Ness.
