Beachfront Luxury Apartment
A one bedroom (king size) apartment with two shower rooms (his 'n' hers) recently renovated to a very high standard using top quality materials (granite, marble, teak) and bespoke fabrics.
This is not a normal rental unit - it has the feeling of being in someone's private home from home, which is exactly what it is. Sat tv, i-pod docking station, dvd and internet are provided.
The views of the Caribbean are fabulous from both the bedroom and the kitchen/dining lounge areas and you can listen to the waves whilst sleeping if you wish.
Closely situated to the village of Grand Case, the gourmet capital of the Caribbean, its an easy stroll to walk down the beach for sunset and dinner.
In high season Tuesdays are special in the village with local craft stalls and live music parades - it's has a special atmosphere and many people from all over the island turn up!
By day, the bay is normally quiet and we provide sunbeds and parasol to use on the beach so you do not have to leave your little part of paradise if you do not wish to.
We provide maid service mid-week to just tidy you up and refresh your linen, but this can be upgraded to more and arranged when you arrive. We supply beach towels and cool box and have a small selection of books and dvd's to watch - please feel welcome to leave your favourite book behind to add to the library.
The island is divided into two parts, the top half being French and the lower part being Dutch Antilles. There are no borders to cross but the flavours are slightly different. It seems to be more Caribbean in the north, the small island of Ile Pinel is a true haven to spend a day and is only a five minute boat ride away.
Anguilla and Saint Bart's are also easy to travel to for a day trip - it's wonderful to enjoy being on the water and we can recommend way's to do this.
Flights to the island are available from most US hubs including Atlanta, New York and Miami. There are also direct flights from Canada, Holland and France. Many of the visitors are American and English is widely spoken on the whole island. There is a melting pot of many nationalities living together in harmony on this island.
The large lagoon is shared between both territories and is home to many multi-million pound yachts which base themselves here throughout the winter season. Private jets fly straight into the new Juliana airport near Maho and its a hop, skip and a jump onto the luxury boats.
The island has some stunning private villa's with incredible ocean views, most of which are based in Terre Basse on the French side. The small village of Grand Case retains a Caribbean island feeling and you can watch the fishermen go looking for Conch and bring in their catch. The bird life is wonderful to see and the tropical flora and fauna is beautiful.
People return year after year to this island because it has almost everything for everyone. Deserted beaches, waitor-service beach clubs, rum shack beaches, wind surfing, kiting, sailing, fishing, snorkelling, diving, horse-riding, golf (18 holes), it all here.
There are many artists that live here and many galleries to see, some of which are in Grand Case.
Night life is varied, classy restaurants, simple cafes, beach bar's, casino's (Dutch side), night clubs and piano bar's - it's here and very sophisticated for the Caribbean.
Self-catering is easy because the choice of food at the supermarkets is fantastic. There is everything you could ever need plus if you enjoy going to the market there is a lovely local market in Marigot selling fresh vegetables and local produce including a fresh fish stall.
Liquor is duty free here and as the island has a European influence you will find every type of it available including French and other fine wines & Brut Champagnes. Flights from France bring in fresh produce daily - imagine finding fresh foie gras, pates, truffles, mushrooms, Sisterone Lamb, Fresh Pasta, Risotto rice, Atlantic Lobster & Scallops - things that you wouldn't normally expect to find in the Caribbean (and this choice can take self-catering to a different level, especially when you have such a beautiful place to dine, right on the water's edge).
The local bakeries make fresh bread everyday and the French patisseries are heaven-scent for the nose (and tummy)!
You can kick off your shoes when you come and stay at Seashell and just chill out on your very own beach. You can cook at 'home' or simply stroll into the village or find other places on the island to visit such as Marigot, Orient Bay, Oyster Pond, Simpson Bay or Maho.
You will never be bored - unless you want to be!
Saint Martin /Sint Maarten is known as the 'friendly island' of the Caribbean.
