Casa Cojo, Sighisoara

The House is located in the last living medieval citadel in the world, in the heart of Transylvania. Carefully and tastefully restored the house exudes all the athmosphere of a past world.

The accommodation is complete with all modern conveniences including bathroom, kitchen, eating and cooking utensils, fridge, gas cooker, multi-channel TV. tea coffee facilities, Cleaning, Laundry services and Grocery Stocking available on request. The loft level opens out on to a Terraced Garden, which belongs to the apartment.

The accommodation is located in the upper part of Sighisoara Citadel opposite Turmul Cojocarilor (Furriers Tower). The location guarantees peace and quite but is just 2 minutes walk to Sighisoara Citadel Square (Piata), Castle and Vlad Tepes Birthplace. Restaurants, Bars, Shops and Markets abound (but gladly out of earshot). Above the house to the rear is the Citadel Burg and the 'German School' the oldest still operating school in the world.

The history of the house in detail is unknown but the presence of a vaulted cellar in the basement indicate the original structure was built by the Saxons during the prosperous years of Maria Therese. The upper part of the house was probably rebuilt a 100 years later as it has a unique style reminiscent of the architecture of the time. Consequently the house stands proud on the street frontage distinguishing itself from it older neighbours.

The Citadel is the last real living Citadel in the world. The neighbours are traditional Romanian and Saxon families, which have been living in the Citadel for generations. The last resident was a clock maker (explains the numerous clocks on the walls) with his workshop being in the loft level.

The house has recently been restored in keeping as much as possible with the original character.
To the rear of the loft level is direct access to terraced garden.

Parking is available in front of the house. A washing machine is also available in the utility room. The Staff are local and speak English and are happy to accommodate any additional needs you might have.
