Maddox Down Farm Holiday Cottages

Maddox Down Farm is situated in a quiet Hamlet with stunning views over the Countryside, quiet and completely rural.

It has been in the Lerwill Family since the 1500's. It is a working farm, with the traditional stone barns converted to cottages in keeping with the area.

We are ideally situated for Lynton and Lynmouth, with its unique Cliff Railway. Only 8 miles from Woolacombe with its 3 miles of Golden Sand and blue flag status. Woolacombe beach is ideal for families looking to spend the day on the beach, it also widely known to surfers with regular breakers to test your surfing skills.

We have five luxury holiday cottages available.

The Barn Holiday Cottage
The Barn sleeps 6 people. The view from the Dining area window is stunning and looks out over the glorious North Devon countryside.

A large Kitchen/Dining room and sitting area (10.5 meters long) is beautifully designed and furnished with high open wooden roof and many original features, including Oak beams, shafts and pulleys.

The Barn cottage includes a widescreen colour TV, Video and DVD player. All cottages have storage heaters, The Barn, The Stable and Roundhouse holiday cottages all have electric woodburners.

A Pine kitchen,fully equipped, includes a cooker, microwave, washing machine, dishwasher, refrigerator.

There are three bedrooms downstairs. The main bedroom has a double bed, with shower, WC and wash basin en-suite.

The second bedroom is twin bedded and the third bedroom has bunk beds. The bedrooms are welcoming and comfortably furnished.

The bathroom is adjacent to the second and third bedroom.

The Stable
The Stable sleeps 5 people. The south facing aspect looking out over uninterrupted countryside.

The stable holiday cottage features a stunning pine and chestnut roof. It is comfortably furnished with a large Kitchen/Dining and sitting room (11 metres long) with widescreen TV, video and DVD. French doors lead onto a patio, barbecue area, where you can catch the last rays of sunshine in the evenings.

The Pine kitchen has a cooker, microwave, washing machine, dishwasher and is fully equipped to a very high standard.

Downstairs there are two bedrooms. The main bedroom, with double bed, is large and comfortable. The second bedroom comfortably provides three single beds.

The Bathroom has bath and shower for your convenience. All cottages have storage heaters, The Barn, The Stable and Roundhouse holiday cottages all have electric woodburners.

The Stable has many original features, including round walls and original Oak beams and shafts and pulleys.

The Roundhouse Holiday Cottage
The Roundhouse sleeps 4 people. It is all on one level for easy access.

The Oak kitchen is fully equipped with washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, cooker, refrigerator and all the utensils you would require. This leads into a Dining/sitting room that faces westward into the setting sun,the French windows lead out onto a patio, barbecue area that is also level and accessible. The sitting room features a TV, Video and DVD player.

There are two double bedrooms comfortably furnished. The bathroom has a electric shower and bath for your convenience.

Oak beams are from the original building, when it was used as a roundhouse, for the horse to drive the threshing machine and other farm machinery.

All cottages have storage heaters, The Barn, The Stable and Roundhouse holiday cottages all have electric woodburners.

In the meadow below the cottages there is a catch and release fishing lake, stocked with Trout and Carp which can be used by our guests free of charge. We can supply tackle for a small charge if required.

The Dairy Holiday Cottage
The main room of the Dairy holiday cottage is dedicated as a Living and Dining room and the kitchen area is fully equipped with all kitchen utensils, including cooker, washing machine, microwave and refrigerator. There is are dining table and chairs and a comfortable lounge area with TV, Video and DVD.

Two steps lead you to the double bedroom, separate from the main room.

The bathroom features a modern shower cubicle, toilet and washbasin.

The view from the Dairy holiday cottage is stunning, looking out over the countryside towards Arlington Court, a National Trust property, where Red Deer can sometimes be spotted in the twilight hours.

The cottage opens onto a lawned area suitable for alfresco meals, it is south and west facing and catches the sun all day long.

Responsible Dogs are welcome in the Dairy and Granary cottages. By popular demand, we do not take bookings for guests with dogs in our other holiday cottages.

The Granary Holiday Cottage
The Granary is on two levels, it sleeps four people, a double room and a twin bedded room.

A shower room with washbasin and WC between the two rooms.

Upstairs a Kitchen, Living / Dining room, fully equiped with cooker, washing machine, refridgerator, microwave etc, and a dining table and suite.

The Granary has its own patio area and is quiet and secluded.

Well behaved Dogs are welcome in the Granary and Dairy holiday cottages.
